Procurement's role in resolving demand–supply imbalances: an information processing theory perspective

چکیده

Purpose Drawing on information processing theory, the linkage between buffering and bridging ability part of procurement to resolve demand–supply imbalances is investigated, as well contexts in which these strategies may be particularly useful or detrimental. Buffering achieved through demand change redundancy, while by means collaboration monitoring. Design/methodology/approach This study employs a hierarchical regression analysis survey 150 Finnish Swedish sales operations planning professionals, each responding from perspective their own area supply responsibility. Findings Both redundancy varieties are associated with procurement's without delivery disruptions, but not cost-efficient resolution. Bridging resolution imbalances: offers benefits, monitoring seems make things worse. Dynamism diminishes, co-management S&OP improves imbalances. The most potent strategy for tackling problematic appears via change. Practical implications results highlight importance process suggest tactical measures that can taken reduce effects Originality/value contribute literature increasing knowledge regarding role integration crucial balancing operations.

An information-processing perspective on childhood anxiety.

In the past decade, cognitive theories of adult anxiety disorders have become increasingly complex, reflecting enhanced understanding of anxiety-related information-processing. This growth has fostered the development and enhancement of numerous assessment and treatment methods. Unfortunately, similar growth has been slower to occur in theories of childhood anxiety. This paper attempts to foste...

Reader: Cognitive Science: An Information Processing Perspective

Watching a speaker in face-to-face communication can influence what the perceiver hears the speaker saying. I tested whether written language would also influence audible speech perception. Observers identified spoken syllables while reading a written syllable. Observers identified what they heard the speaker saying. The two hypotheses are 1) reading a written syllable will have a strong influe...

Conditioning from an information processing perspective.

The framework provided by Claude Shannon's [Bell Syst. Technol. J. 27 (1948) 623] theory of information leads to a quantitatively oriented reconceptualization of the processes that mediate conditioning. The focus shifts from processes set in motion by individual events to processes sensitive to the information carried by the flow of events. The conception of what properties of the conditioned a...

The role of visual perspective in information processing

Social events can be described from the perspective of either a person in the situation in which the event occurs (e.g., ‘‘John came into. . .”) or that of an outside observer (‘‘John went into. . .”). We find that when individuals are disposed to form visual images, they have difficulty comprehending both verbal statements and pictures when the perspective from which the event is described dif...

Quantum metrology from an information theory perspective

Questions about quantum limits on measurement precision were once viewed from the perspective of how to reduce or avoid the effects of quantum noise. With the advent of quantum information science came a paradigm shift to proving rigorous bounds on measurement precision. These bounds have been interpreted as saying, first, that the best achievable sensitivity scales as 1/n, where n is the numbe...
